SUMMARY:2019 Roundtable Mentor Event
DESCRIPTION:The Business Development Committee is happy to offer this event for a fifth year based on the positive feedback we received at the previous years events.\n\n\n\nThis event is targeted towards our local entrepreneurs\, managers and leaders who are interested in tapping into the wealth of local experience from seasoned business leaders from our community.This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions of these local experienced business owners at a moderated event. Hear how they have weathered the difficult times\, and maximized the good times for growth.\n\n\n\nThank you to our generous Mentors who have graciously donated their time and expertise to help make this event happen this year.\n\n\n\n\n\nPAUL DYCK - STEINBACH PISTONS INC\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaul is the Head Coach/General Manager of the two-time MJHL Champion Steinbach Pistons and has held that post since 2012. He is a two-time MJHL Coach of the Year and this past season reached the 250 win plateau faster than any coach in MJHL history. Paul helped guide Team Canada West to a gold medal at the 2015 World Junior A Challenge with a win over Russia in the finals. Under his guidance\, over 40 of his players have gone on to play college hockey or at a higher level.  \n\n \n\nPaul was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and played over 1000 professional games during a 15 year career. Five of those years were spent playing in Europe which included a Championship in Germany and an opportunity to play in the 2003 Spengler Cup in Davos\, Switzerland.\n\nHe also co-invented and patented the Equiface Saver and traveled North America for four years marketing the product.\n\n \n\nPaul\, his wife Candice and their three children reside just outside of Steinbach. When he is not in an arena\, he enjoys watching his children play volleyball\, baseball or soccer and spending time together as a family.\n\n\n\n\n\nMARLENE FAST - MARLENE'S DESIGNER PORTRAITS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarlene is a Master at storytelling portraits known for creating classic and timeless portraits.  She captures the true essence of her subjects and creates artful handcrafted wall portraits that will be displayed with pride today and are a legacy for future generations.\n\n \n\nMarlene has been photographing for over 40 years and has earned several designations through the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC)\, with the prestigious designation of Master of Photographic Arts and has been featured in the PPOC National Loan Collection numerous times. \n\n \n\nShe is an award-winning photographer\, a national judge and has served on the Board of Directors for PPOC and PPOC-Manitoba numerous times.  Marlene has won Manitoba Portrait Photographer of the Year and also a Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award/Lifetime Achievement through Women Business Owners of Manitoba.\n\n \n\nShe is a member of Steinbach Chamber of Commerce and the Secretary for the newly-chartered Steinbach Professional Development Toastmasters Club.\n\n\n\n\n\nKENT LEDINGHAM - LEDINGHAM GM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKent was born and raised in Regina\, Saskatchewan and has resided in Steinbach since 2004. Having graduated with B.B.A. from Northwood University in Michigan and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago\, he went on to work at General Motors Corporation for eight years\, working in Calgary\, Saskatoon\, Winnipeg and Toronto. After a short stint back in Regina\, Kent and his family moved to Steinbach and purchased the local GM Dealership.\n\n\n\nKent is currently a Past President of the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association. Kent currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Steinbach Pistons and Today House Shelter.  He is also currently President of the Steinbach Fly-in Golf Club.  It is his belief that partnerships between civic leadership\, community leadership\, and business leadership are essential to a strong welcoming community that supports each other.\n\n\n\nKent has been married to Caprice for over 20 years and has three teenage boys.\n\n\n\n\n\nJUSTIN SCHINKEL - SCHINKEL PROPERTIES\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJustin grew up in Steinbach. After graduating from the SRSS in 2003\, he continued his education at the University of Manitoba\, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. In 2008\, he received his Real Estate License. In 2013\, Justin pursued his Masters in Business Administration at Queen?s University\, graduating in 2015.\n\n \n\nJustin is currently the CEO of The InnKeepers. Justin moved from hotel management to CEO in 2011. They currently own six hotels across Western Canada.  These include 450 rooms\, a lounge\, restaurant and banquet facilities. All the hotels have been renovated under the supervision of Justin. This hasn?t always been an easy road. The Super 8 East\, in Winnipeg\, had a fire\, in 2015\, which resulted in a total rebuild in 2017. The Innkeepers continues to expand with recently acquiring a hotel in Edmonton\, AB. This has opened new doors for growth and expansion.   \n\n \n\nHe is currently on the Manitoba Hotel Association board of directors serving as Chair of the Board. Justin has also previously served on the boards for Steinbach Chamber of Commerce and local Conservative government.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDANIELLE TKACHYK - PMC DESAULNIERS INSURANCE BROKERS INC.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDanielle Tkachyk is an entrepreneur. She is the owner of PMC Desaulniers Insurance Brokers Inc. (PMCD) and mokada custom jewelry design studio inc.  Danielle has been in the insurance industry since 2000. She has filled the roles of independent broker\, broker support representative and\, ultimately\, training coordinator for Manitoba Public Insurance before buying into her brokerage. Since then she started and sold Van Moss Corporation (another property and casualty office) and is currently the sole shareholder of PMCD. She is also the administrative support and marketing force behind mokada since 2012\; a much more creative endeavour which she founded with her mother\, Mona Stott.\n\n\n\nDanielle pursued her Integrated Bachelor of Arts/Education at the University of Winnipeg. Has her Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker designation (with honours) in addition to a rare Canada Border Services Agency Document Examination certification. Danielle is an expert witness\, panel speaker and author\; her work has been published repeatedly by The Property Guide\, Golden Girl Finance and Yahoo Finance. She is a director for the Better Business Bureau\, sits on the board for the Provencher Biz\, Wawanesa Mutual broker advisory council\, SGI Canada broker council\, is a member of Athena Leadership\, the president of her condo association and volunteers for too many community initiatives to name!\n\n\n\nShe has been nominated for CBC?s Top 40 under 40\, the YWCA?s Woman of Distinction\, Women Business Owner?s Woman Entrepreneur of the Year (three times)\, a Future Leader of Manitoba and Fine Lifestyles Best Custom Jeweler.\n\n\n\nDanielle was born and raised in Niverville\, Manitoba and is happy to report that she has recently returned ?home? with her husband Matthew and their daughters\, Mataya and Kennedy.
