Join us as we engage with Minister Goertzen and Dr. Krahn regarding the provincial government's plans to reopen Manitoba, the impacts to our business community, and the role vaccinations play in the reopening plan. Hear from Minister Goertzen about the plan to reopen and its economic impact in our region. Dr. Krahn will provide expert insight into the COVID-19 vaccination process.
We will finish off this session with a Q&A facilitated by Wayne Patram, President of Steinbach Chamber. Please submit your questions when you register online. Questions may also submitted live during the event.
About Hon. Kelvin Goertzen
Kelvin Goertzen is a lifelong resident of Steinbach and, since 2003, has had the honour of serving as the MLA for the Steinbach constituency. He was re-elected to his fifth term on September 10th, 2019.
During his time in office, Kelvin has served in many roles. In Opposition, he served as the Official Opposition House Leader and Deputy Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party along with a number of critic roles.
In government, Kelvin has previously served as the Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living and the Minister of Education and Training.
Currently, Kelvin is Manitoba's Deputy Premier, Government House Leader and the Minister of Legislative and Public Affairs, and the Acting Minister of Health.
A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Kelvin has degrees in Economics, Commerce, and Law. In addition to working for a major financial institution and a property development company, Kelvin has extensive political experience as an assistant to an MLA, an MP, and a provincial Cabinet Minister.
From an early age, Kelvin has been active in the community. He has served as Vice-President of both the Steinbach Arts Council and the Steinbach Food Bank (Helping Hands) and is currently a member of the South East Rotary Club. His community service was recognized when he received the H.O.P.E. Medal of Honour by the Lions Club of Manitoba as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Governor General of Canada.
Kelvin is married to Kim, also a lifelong Steinbach resident. Their home is made complete with their son Malachi and the family dog, Reagan.
About Dr. Curtis Krahn
Dr. Curtis Krahn has been a family doctor in Steinbach since 1983. He graduated from the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Medicine in 1981 and completed his Family Medicine Residency in 1983.
Dr. Krahn has been involved with several nonprofits over the years and presently serves on the board for the Bethesda Foundation. In 2000, he was awarded Manitoba Family Physician of the Year.
Dr. Krahn is married with three grown children and two granddaughters, and is a longstanding member of the faith community in Steinbach.

Dr. Krahn was a co-founder of Steinbach Family Medical, and has taught medical students and Family Medicine residents at the U of M for over 30 years. Past experience includes inpatient, obstetrical and Emergency Room care at Bethesda Hospital. He has been affiliated with Cancer Care Manitoba for almost 30 years and is presently the Medical Lead for the Steinbach Community Cancer Care Program.
